Run, jump, run, skid, jump, die, restart…

Playing Cave of No Return is like a punishment, and yet people keep playing it because it offers a genuine challenge. People are so weary of games that allow you to die without consequences that people now like the idea of a game where your character dies very easily and stays dead.

The game Faster Than Light has received positive reviews because it doesn’t allow you to save your game and ergo people find it very challenging. Cave of No Return is similar in that you can run, jump, and skid away for a few minutes, but then a small mistake will leave your character squashed or dead.

The graphics are very simple, as is the gameplay mechanic. It is good to see that so many people enjoy this free indie game, but it is not the sort of game that many people would have paid to play. Still, there are a lot of people that say they very-much enjoy the game, so it may be worth a try yourself.

Seek The Most Inner Chamber

The aim of the game is to seek the most inner chamber of the Cave of No Return, yet you don’t really find out why the character is so eager to get there until the very end. The game is free to download and play, and you should change your name from the default “Player” because your scores will be entered on the World Wide Web for all to see.

It Is Similar To Temple Run

In the Temple Run game, you are forced to run forwards and dodge things or jump things. The principle is similar with Cave of No Return, except that you are running sideways from the left hand side of the screen to the right. You can jump, move left, more right, and you may skid.

It Is Notoriously Difficult

It is one of those games where if you make a small mistake then your character dies. This is such a big deal that there are actually different versions of the game out on the net that have been created by independent developers. They include things such as being able to jump and miss a bit where the character stumbles instead of falling.

Pros

  • It is very challenging
  • It is very easy to play
  • Practice is quite rewarding

Cons

  • It is not a game you will enjoy in the long-term
  • Its gameplay mechanic is too simple for most people
  • Many parts of the game are too difficult
  • It is not worth your time practicing
